Free Garden Packs from Local Places for Nature
Keep Wales Tidy are once again offering resources to support local community project that are providing good homes for nature and food growing gardens.
Starter packs are for small food growing and wildlife garden projects and are available to any community or volunteer group, you don’t even need a bank account or constitution! Each one includes all the native plants, tools and materials you’ll need; guidance on how to install the garden, and a small amount of Keep Wales Tidy officer time to provide extra advice and support. For more details on the starter packs go to: keepwalestidy.cymru/our-work/conservation/nature/starter-packages
Development packs are for community organisations ranging from social enterprises, youth groups and faith groups, to charities and registered social landlords. These larger packages include training, advice, practical help and support to install the new areas, as well as tools, materials and equipment to care for them long-term. Priority will be given to projects with strong community involvement, those in towns, cities, deprived areas, and spaces with little or no access to nature. For more information about the development packs go to: keepwalestidy.cymru/our-work/conservation/nature/development-packages

Community Growing Projects Can Share Equipment
Spring Mills Community Gardens now has a collection of food processing equipment available for individuals or groups to process their produce for winter storage - as part of a new STORE MORE project. A full list of available equipment is on the website - www.gowergroup.org/store-more/. The equipment includes peelers, juicers, dryers, food processors, pots and pans, pasteurising equipment, mincers and sausage pushers, vacuum packers and more. Most of the equipment has arrived with just a few of the international items still in the post but in the interest of catching everyone’s attention during harvest time they have decided to send out a call for interest now whilst work is underway on the finalised list and the website.
STORE MORE is a not for profit project and hire charges for equipment are as minimal as possible simply to cover the maintenance of the items during community use. Please get in touch to find out what is available, they would like to see the equipment used as much as possible. The project is supported by Swansea Council’s Grow Local Grant Fund.
